The dark she-cat sat idly by the flowing waters, her eyes unfocused as if lost in a distant dream. The light breeze ruffled her short pelt, chilling her to the bone, not that she noticed in her trance like stare. The water beneath was nothing special, just the river that ran through the clan's territory. Yet, she had always avoided it, only going there when in need of water, never other than that. She could feel the water's current like she was swimming in it, tugging and pulling, whispering its wicked song at her to just relax and float away.

Choking... can't breath... lungs burning for air as the dark shape above her kept her pinned beneath the water's surface. A cruel grin twisting his normally handsome face into a monstrous mask. She saw the edges of her vision going black... she swore he was going to kill her... this time.
She wanted to scream out for help but she couldn't suffocating under water as the tom held her down, her small body unable to fight back. The dark gray tom cat released his grip and somewhat violently yanked her from the liquid and dropped her harshly on the ground at his paws.
She stared up at her father, a tom so twisted she thought she saw his eyes flash red... like a demon. She screamed in terror before he lunged at her-

Veiledmoon gasped quickly, pulling herself out of the hellish memory. "Shadowrain," she murmured, "You said you'd get rid of him... why does he still haunt me?" The she-cat shook her head and looked back into the forest behind her, deciding she'd been out late enough. The femme stood and shook out her pelt. She trotted a little distance from the water and sat down again, looking about before her eyes traveled to the sky.

The brown tabby's fur stuck out against the cold snow, which had begin to lose it's fluffy-white look and melt away. The weather was finally warming up. Although it wasn't much, after Florapaw's first moon of medicine cat training, she could be thankful for the incoming greenleaf. The smaller molly made her way through the melty, wishy-washy terrain, quietly picking her way with a little hop to her step to make sure her paws didn't get too wet.  The apprentice paused, her mouth suddenly widening into a rare smile as she caught a familiar scent drifting along the wind. There was no mistaking it -- that scent was definitely signaling Veiledmoon's presence. The shy tabby stopped to change directions, her body now angled towards the place where the river rushed and crashed. Her slightly rounded ears perked at the quiet noise of the rapids, and suddenly it got louder and louder, along with the chill of the wind. Florapaw shivered, but still went on. And suddenly, all the small she-cat's efforts were worth it. Her amber eyes spotted a dark figure raising her head to the sky. Everything seemed alright to the small apprentice, so she had no worries as she approached the cat she had come to known as her adopted sister. "G-Greetings, Veiledmoon," she squeaked, her teeth chattering as she walked up to sit besides Veiledmoon. The soft beat of paw steps that crunched and sloshed through the melting snow and the gentle drift of a clan-mate's scent made Veiledmoon twitch her ears, wondering who else was out here, it wasn't often that company showed up. The shaded female looked over at Florapaw as she approached and dipped her head in a hello before her adopted sister's squeaky greeting met her ears.

"Hello Florapaw," she replied, a gentle smile etching its way on her face so she wouldn't have to explain her troubled appearance, she didn't like to discuss her issues, not since so many other things had started to go badly in her life. She blinked her sapphire eyes, observing the medicine cat apprentice in front of her. Florapaw was so small... not the Veiledmoon minded, it was nice to have a younger sibling and one as kind-hearted as the tabby before her was like a blessing.

"What brings you to the rapids? It's a bit chilly out," she admitted, concern flicking across her eyes, not wanting her sister to get sick like Blanckit had... and he'd not been fortunate enough to survive his illness. The thought of more deaths made her flatten her ears, "I don't want you to get sick,"[/b] she finally added. The grief that dimmed her eyes was subtle and it soon faded as she tried to better control her emotions.
