- Guide to Cats -
I've seen the mistakes in many biographies (even mine, I made silly mistakes) about how a cat lives. You'll see what I mean when you read the facts below.
The aim of this post is to lighten the burden of our beloved admins (pokes ⋆ Phia ⋆ icey Seren♫) and to make sure that we all won't make the same mistakes again.
So if you're in doubt, keep in mind that this post is always there for you! :)
Even better, this post grows! Everyone will be able to add in facts so others can learn more and improve on character making.
The ones I post is based on the correction the admins have made, and the feedback they have given. Once others have added facts I'll modify this post and mention the source and/or who it came from. When you post the facts please do mention the source, especially if it's from a helpful website containing information for a good research :)
PM me to add the facts or tips you have. I'll think a simpler way for this though, but for now you can use PM.
The Facts
Kittens need their mother's milk to survive until at least 8 weeks, which would be around 2/3 moons. So if a kit younger than that gets lost, it's highly unlikely it'd make it that long on its own since it wouldn't really be able to hunt and it'd be nothing more than a quick snack for predators.
Foxes have huge jaws- a cat, especially if an apprentice or kit, would hardly break free from them so easily (especially with just a scratch), let alone outrun them.
Character names should be named by what a cat knows. For example: cats wouldn't know what a crane is, and if you're referring to the bird, it's still a little rare.
Since kits are named shortly after they're born, it's a little unrealistic to name them upon their eye colour, since their eyes are always closed for the first few weeks and even after they've opened, they're always a pale blue before getting their true colour.
Cats with long fur are bad at swimming - their fur soaks up more water, making it more difficult for them to swim.
Tails help with a cat's balance.
A cat's build highly influences them. It's like in a game, if you spend more on their strength, most likely they'll lose their speed. If you spend more on their speed, they might be weaker. It depends on how big or small, tall or short, and lots of other varieties that your cat has.
Kits are obvious babies. In their first few moons they are vunerable. They might get lucky a little only once, but if they're flooded with more disasters... well, you know.
Describe every little detail that you can find. Picture the cat inside your head. If you're quite stuck, here's how I do it: get yourself a sentence that contains quite a general description (example: Bob has a small, thin body with long legs). Describe the pros and cons from it, like Bob's good speed and lack of strength. There's just too much that you can tell, let yourself get carried away! :)
Use present tense in descriptive text, past tense in history.
Try to make the biography as detailed as you can, but also keep in mind that it should be easy to read too.
