RP Rules
1. Literate
Literacy is the key to a good RP. We are pretty lenient when it comes to foreign speakers, and we are willing to help you out if need be. Use proper grammar, spelling, etc. Use the spell check button, it's there for your convenience. Chatspeak is prohibited anywhere within your RP. While we do not yet have a required word count for RP posts, it is suggested that you aim for at least 200 words. Definitely no one liners allowed.
2. Realistic
Here at Hidden in the Stars v2 we require semi-realistic RP. Erin Hunter has crafted a beautiful world for Warriors, I'm sure many of you are familiar with it. The books will be used as a guideline for what is to be expected during RP. Characters and their actions must not exceed those from the books. If you have a question regarding this rule, please contact the admin.
3. Use OOC
Use some sort of Out of Character indicator to help your readers determine what chat is excluded from RP. OOC includes but is not limited to the following: OOC;, [ ], (), || ||, etc. When using a posting template, it is important to note an ooc section. To keep the RP clean, please avoid posting purely OOC in a RP thread. Include any notes or thoughts about the RP and its direction in one of your RP posts, or simply message the other RPers using your personal messages.
4. No PP
Absolutely no Powerplaying or PP. This is when one RPer controls another, usually within a RP battle. Instead, give the other RPer a chance to add their input. There are ways to get around this rule. Simply by discussing with the other RPer beforehand about the outcome of the battle/RP scene. Please note this in your RP post, and please be respectful of all RPers and the Staff. If your RP partner is powerplaying your character without your consent, please let one of the Staff Members know so that it can be dealt with.
Example:
[Good] Brownfoot lunged out and attacked his enemy, aiming a blow that would hopefully hit.
[Bad] Brownfoot lunged out and attacked his enemy, aiming a blow and hitting the other cat.[/s]
5. No GM
Similar to PP, Godmoding or GM is prohibited within RP. This is where a RPer makes their character appear god-like or all powerful beyond normal skill level. They go above and beyond realistic performances and are often described as perfect or unbeatable in battle.
Example:
[Good] Sunstripe looked around, seeing two cats charging toward him. A brown tom reached him first, and Sunstripe dodged, looking around for the other, but he was already hit.
[Bad] Sunstripe looked around, seeing two cats charging toward him. A brown tom reached him first, and Sunstripe dodged, looking around for the other cat, seeing and dodging him, too, then aiming a counter attack that hit immediately.
6. Third Person
Please use a third person type style when RPing. Not second, and certainly not first. As a guideline, you can use the Warriors series as a reference point.
Example:
[Good] Flameleap limped toward the medicine cat den, wincing in pain as he tried to put weight on his back leg. "Hello, Songriver. I have a thorn in my paw. Will you pull it out?" he asked the tortoiseshell she-cat.
[Bad] I limped toward the medicine cat den, wincing in pain as I tried to put weight on my back leg. "Hello, Songriver. I have a thorn in my paw. Will you pull it out?" I asked the tortoiseshell she-cat.[/s]
7. Proper Grammar & Punctuation
Just to reiterate, please use proper grammar and punctuation. Use proper spelling and capitalization. Spell check frequently. USE YOUR COMMAS. If our members can't read your post, they are likely to disregard it all together. Just keep that point in mind.
8. Keep it PG13
Content should reflect a PG13 rating. The Warriors series is known to have violence, therefore, violence is perfectly acceptable. Again, use the books as a guideline and reference and if you have any concerns, please contact the admin. Inappropriate content such as rape, mating, etc. is strictly prohibited. You will receive a warning and possibly even a ban if you disregard this rule. If it's questionable activity you're looking to RP, you best message the admin about it first. The Character Creation board is password protected, to access it and create your biographies use the password: Twoleg Pet
9. Liquid Time
Liquid time is allowed here at Hidden in the Stars v2. That is, "being in two places at once". If your character is currently in Camp and a Gathering begins, you will be allowed to RP at both locations without needing to move your character to that location. You can also have your character participate in more than one threads at once, even if they take place in different locations. We understand that RPs can sometimes lull in activity and we do not wish to discourage you from RPing, but remember not to overdo it.
10. Original Characters
Please use original characters only. You should not mention canon clans nor characters. You can read more about Clan Lore in the Documents section. Canon clans existed until recently, but only Hiddenclan would have knowledge of them, the other three clans would not. Canon characters have long been deceased. So please, do not mention them.
11. Character Limit
As of now, there is a character limit. For the time being, you may only have up to 10 characters. Starclan Members do not count. Only living, breathing clan cats, rogues, loners, or kittypets will add to your count. Also, you may not roleplay until your character has been accepted.
12. Character Aging
Every cat season (greenleaf, leaf-bare, etc.) will last 2 human months.
That means, every cat year will last 8 human months.
At the end of every completed cat year (meaning, every 8 months), an announcement will be made for you to add 12 moons to each of your characters' ages. (Staff shall be checking, so don't be lazy and be patient editing your Character Logs)
So, 1 moon is basically around 22 human days.
This will not apply to Kits and Apprentices; we know nobody wants to wait that long to make their Kit an Apprentice/make their Apprentice a Warrior, so for those you just need to follow the Warrior Training Guide and all that is listed there. After your character is a Warrior, this aging system will apply. Loners/Rogues/Kittypets will also age normally.
About editing all of your characters' ages- you seriously are not going to dig out each of your applications separately and edit the age there. Nobody looks at those after they have been accepted. If you still haven't gotten a Character Log, make one now. Make all of your changes and continue developing your characters there. It keeps everything neat and organised, and, this cannot be argued, it saves everyone a lot of time/work.
